I have created 4 versions for each camera based on the tone curves for Adobe Standard, Camera Standard, Camera Neutral and Camera Portrait. (Note: these are based on tone curves not colours so you won't get the Capture NX colours which I'm not keen on anyway.)

In the crop below you can see how the Adobe Standard based profile (previously called Niks Default) would blow out yellows and cause reds to look orange. Compare the the train doors and rear lights but notice that the riders jacket looks about the same in both versions. Right click on the image to download a larger version. This problem also showed up well in sunset photos where it would introduce yellows into the sky instead of oranges.

I am a baby boomer and not very technical, be grateful if you could advise how /where to install in Lightroom and when best to use the profile within my workflow.
Also Once I install the profile where would it be found in Lightroom develop module
Hi Sue, I wouldn't use the older profiles on this page. Unless you have a specific issue with your images then I would stick to the profiles supplied in Lightroom. If you look at the bottom of the Downloads page on the right you will see I have some custom profiles for the D300 & D700 that I use for my defaults. I prefer these to the default LR profiles and your welcome to use them.
